Guess what happened at our house yesterday? RAIN. And lots of it. Our area has been dry for quite a while and last night Mother Nature put on a show. There was a lot of wind, lightning, and thunder to start. I was beginning to think we weren’t getting any rain. Finally, the rain came. And stayed for quite a while. According to the news, our area got 3 inches! That should help the yards and plants. Sadly, not everyone in our area got the rain. My M-I-L, who lives 7 miles away from us, didn’t get a drop.
I will say that should Mother Nature decide to repeat that storm tonight, I will NOT be walking the Pilot Fireball 5K. I am not hardcore enough (read: CRAZY) to walk during a thunder/lightning storm. I am looking forward to the Fireball 5K. They usually have around 1000 people of all ages and abilities. It is a great way to start the 4th of July holiday! Last year’s shirt:

At least our temps have broken some and we are staying out of the triple digit temps. Thank goodness.
So, I found this cool blogging challenge over on Peanut Butter and Jenny and thought I might participate in my own way. Since I am a couple of days behind, let’s get started.
Question 1: Goals for the Month
- Continue to work towards my overall 2012 goals
- Complete the Planks, Pushups, and Squats Challenge that I started
- Have FUN at the beach!
- Watch my spending
- Learn to create videos. Any advice to get started?
- Continue studying for my Fitness Nutrition Specialist certification
Question 2: If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
I think I am going with – listen to your parents.
Question 3: What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
The last TWO times I have been to the theaters, I have seen the same thing: The Avengers! I went with some friends when hubby was out of town and as soon as he got back, we went again. I was never into comic books, but I love these Marvel Comic movies. I have seen all of the ones leading up to The Avengers except for Thor. The next movie I will see? Magic Mike! We are planning a GNO.
Yesterday’s workout consisted of: planks, pushups, and 2 sets of my awesome arms workout. I wanted to save my legs for tonight’s 5K. With the heat we have been having, my goal is to finish without having a heat stroke.
Looking for a great ab workout? Check out Katie’s workout. Click through on the picture to be taken to her blog article that has a video demonstrating these moves. I am definitely going to give this one a try.

Please send some of that rain our way…we’ve been SO hot and dry as well. I don’t prefer being out in rain but I’ve had more than my share of races that ended up being in T’storms. No fun!
Enjoy the race!
