Weight Loss Motivational Monday . . .

by Glenneth on January 21, 2013

Hello and Happy Monday! Ready for a new week? What a fabulous weekend, it is so nice to finally see the sun again. I got a lot done around the house, made a 97% on my first health coach exam, and got to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Check out some of the photos I took yesterday while hubby ran a trail race.

I am loving my new camera. It is the Samsung Galaxy Camera (in case you are curious). I did my 1.25 mile walk out there on the trails while hubby ran. Leg felt good. Only a little over a month til I can walk my first 5K.

I am up super early today. 5AM. My goal is to become a morning exerciser. I am following Carla’s Four Steps to Becoming an Early Bird. The first step I am following is wake up and don’t workout. I am going to need to get used to this hour before my body starts moving. I am also “making the decision and telling accountability partners” – YOU GUYS! I will take this week just to get used to the hour and let my body acclimate.

Guess what else I am starting today. The FitFluential DietBet. The concept is that everyone puts $25 in. You have 4 weeks to lose 4% of your weight. All of the winners split the pot. Currently there are 470 players with a pot worth $11,750. I couldn’t resist joining – might just be the motivation and kick in the pants I need to get my weight going in the correct direction.

So with the Dietbet officially starting today, I thought today’s Monday Motivation would be all about weight loss. Here we go!

Let’s Get Motivated

Why four weeks for the DietBet? Because amazing things can happen in as little as a month. February 18 or 19 is our final weigh-in. I will keep you posted on my progress. I think there is a way you can cheer me on using the DietBet website. I will try to figure that out.

And with 21 days til a habit it made, the length of DietBet gives you time to make some good habits. This week I will continue drinking H2O, doing my workouts and a plank, and concentrating on a healthy breakfast and logging it using LoseIt.

This is what 5 pounds of fat looks like. I need to lose almost 2 of these in the next 4 weeks. Part of my motivation will be thinking just how good my jeans (and other clothes) will feel when I lose the weight.

And this is my pledge…

Truth. I love food – it tastes so good. Sadly, some my favorite foods are not so healthy. So, it is all about portion size and moderation. There will be NOTHING off limits for me. I don’t believe in restricting yourself cause that makes you want it more. I also HATE it when other people tell me what I should and should not eat. Everyone is different and food affects everyone differently. That’s why one “diet” might work for you, but not your friend. Want to encourage a friend or family member? Offer to walk or exercise with them – DON’T tell them what they should or should not be eating.

Some helpful tips to get back on track. Drinking water and journaling your food are big ones I will be working on. The key is to make small changes that build up over time.

And finally, it is all about this. ONE POUND AT A TIME.

Did you join the DietBet? What is your most important weight loss tip?

Enjoy your day!

Hey Glenneth, those are some pretty pictures you added, especially the last two. I did not know Samsung Galaxy was that good. I don’t have a good camera, but I was thinking of buying myself an iPad Mini. While checking it out at a store, I found it to be pretty good.

Also, I have never heard of that Fitfluential DieBet thing. That is pretty cool and a real motivation to get fit and get rid of some exta weight. Pretty cool. Can anyone join? Not that I need it, but I do know a person who could definitely benefit!

Keep it up,
Jordan.

Hi Jordan! I love all Apple products but haven’t actually played with the mini yet. The Samsung camera is a true point and shoot built on the android operating system. Kind of a smartphone without the phone part.

Anyone can join the FitFluential diet bet but I bet today is the last day since the contest starts today. My guess is they will run one every four weeks for a while since it was so popular.

Thanks for reading!

Glenneth, you mean you have one Apply product, but you have not had a chance to use it? :-) Those things are pretty expensive, and once I get it, try to spend as much time playing with them as possible lol. If I buy it and never use it, I feel like it was a waste of money!!! What I learnt about all these products is that most of the time it is enough just to buy the most basic of them. Like with iPad Mini, they have one that has 16 GB of memory, and it can go up to 64 GB, which is like way too much. I still have my old iPod Classic with 160 GB of memory. So far I have used only 8 GB lol. But enough of Apply. That was not the main topic of your blog post! Off to check your most recent post, thanks Glenneth!

No, I don’t actually have the mini. Haven’t even seen it in person yet. I have a MacBook Pro, an iPad and an iPhone. Love them all!

Miz, that’s my keyword for 2013: Consistency.
